Kindergarten

“What we have is a gift from Him. What we do with what we have is our gift to him.”

-Swami Chinmayananda

Chinmaya Vidyalayas provide a kindergarten facility and we are following the Next Curriculum. The curriculum endows the child with 21st century skills. The teaching methodology embedded with fascinating audiovisuals, simulations, hands-on activities and much more engages every kind of learner and creates life-long love for learning. The integrated learning approach ensures balanced development in the five key domains of learning, namely, cognitive, emotional, linguistic, social and physical in a pre-schooler.

All the sections are endowed with digital classrooms which makes the classes more lively, informative and entertaining. Parents are also given access to resources through parental apps. The curriculum is designed with real-life examples, thought-provoking scenarios and supporting activities that encourage creativity and critical thinking. Worksheets and assignments are also part of the textbook which reinforces the concepts already imbibed by the child. The different activities like clay modelling, drawing, vegetable printing and so on are incorporated in the curriculum for developing specific skills of students. Colour’s day is celebrated with different activities related to the specific colour to make the students familiar with each of them. They are given the opportunity to develop stories from pictures; sing songs and draw pictures to give expression to their imagination. Walls of all KG classes are painted with blackboard paint up to a height of 3.5 feet; children are free to draw and write in this space. Learning takes place through fun filled and child centered activities in our classrooms. Physical activities are given to develop the muscles including those which we usually neglect, like muscles on fingers. These activities also help in activating the portions of the brain controlling them. Activities are so designed that there is a balanced development of all faculties; the child can blossom later in whichever field he has natural interests in.

The teachers who are well trained in the development of living and communication skills guide the students to acquire the skills. A support group has been formed by training a few teachers ( in the school section) in the counselling of children with disabilities, who can diagnose the problem and suggest solutions . Counselling is given to the children along with the parents and wherever necessary, parents are directed to approach specialists. We make sure that our students are provided with a healthy and tension free atmosphere that will help them to freely express themselves and find their own inner potential.
